Geekvape pods, how to find the right refill for your kit

Sonder, Wenax, Aegis, Digi, Peak, Soul… Geekvape names its kits faster than it names its refills, and that is where most wrong orders begin. Choosing from the range of Geekvape pods on the strength of the logo alone can leave you with a pod that never seats in your device, or one the device cannot drive properly. Two questions settle it before you pay, which platform your kit belongs to and which resistance it can power.

Which Geekvape pods fit which kit

Geekvape organises its refills by platform rather than by device name. The most widespread of its Geekvape pods, the Q series, serves around ten devices across the Sonder, Wenax, Aegis and Digi ranges. Alongside it sit three closed families that each serve one range only, the Wenax M1 pod for the Wenax M devices, the Peak pod for the Peak and the Soul pod for the Soul.

Identify the platform first, often given away by the letter after the device name, then the ohm value the device can drive. The range name alone is never enough, because a Wenax Q and a Wenax M take different pods, as our guide to vape pod compatibility explains for every brand.

The Q series, the Geekvape pods with the widest reach

With the Q series, the brand chose one refill for almost its entire line of compact pod kits. Retailer listings agree on a compatibility list covering the Sonder Q, Sonder Q2 and Sonder Q3, the Wenax Q, Wenax Q Mini, Wenax Q2, Wenax Q Pro and Wenax Q Ultra, plus the Aegis Q and the Digi Q.

One large British retailer now marks most of the Wenax, Aegis and Digi Q kits as discontinued while still selling the pods, so an older device keeps finding its refills.

In their standard form these pods carry a sealed coil, so you replace the whole pod rather than a coil on its own.

The 0.4 ohm pod is the exception to the rule. Rated for 25 to 30 W, it is reserved for the most powerful devices on the platform, led by the Wenax Q Pro, Wenax Q Ultra and Sonder Q2. The manufacturer’s own specification gives 25 W for the original Sonder Q and 30 W for the Sonder Q2, a gap that lines up with the range this low resistance asks for.

Top fill or side fill, two versions for the same kits

The Q series comes in two versions that seat on the same devices but fill in different ways, the second sometimes listed as the Q V2.

The top fill version opens when you lift off the mouthpiece, which clicks back on once the reservoir is full. The side fill version keeps its mouthpiece in place and fills through a port on its flank, covered by a silicone plug.

The 0.4 ohm value only exists in the side fill version, while the top fill one stops at 0.6, 0.8 and 1.2 ohm. The filling technique and the wait before the first puff are covered in our guide on how to refill a vape pod without leaking.

UK listings give both versions as 2 ml, because British rules cap a refillable tank at 2 ml and nicotine e-liquid at 20 mg per ml in 10 ml bottles. Listings aimed at other markets sometimes quote 3 ml for the side fill version, a number that has no standing on a UK shelf, so the capacity printed on the box is worth checking alongside the ohm value.

Choosing the ohm value for your draw

Once the platform is settled, the resistance decides how the pod feels. On the Q series, retailer listings agree on four reference points, described either as mouth to lung (MTL, where vapour is held in the mouth before it is inhaled) or as restricted direct lung (RDL, a looser and airier draw).

  • 1.2 ohm, at 8 to 12 W, for a tight MTL draw
  • 0.8 ohm, at 12 to 18 W, for a slightly looser MTL draw
  • 0.6 ohm, at 18 to 25 W, halfway between MTL and RDL
  • 0.4 ohm, at 25 to 30 W, for an RDL draw on compatible devices only

The lower the value, the more power the pod needs and the more open the draw becomes. On an older device, staying at 0.6 ohm or above is the sensible choice.

The other families offer fewer options. The Wenax M1 pod comes in 0.8 and 1.2 ohm, the Soul pod in 0.6 and 1.0 ohm, and the Peak pod in a single 0.8 ohm value designed for 15 to 20 W. In every case the lower value gives the denser vapour.

Wenax M, Peak and Soul, pods tied to their own kit

Outside the Q series, each family stays closed, with no crossover from one range to another.

The Wenax M1 pod serves the Wenax M1, Wenax M2 and Wenax M Starter, which share the M series pods and tips. It holds 2 ml and comes out of the device to be filled from the side, under a silicone flap.

The Peak pod is built for the Peak and for its successor, the Peak 2, which accepts the same pod. Its mesh coil is sealed, and filling is done from the top by lifting a silicone cap.

The Soul pod, with a built-in mesh coil, goes with the Soul. Retailer listings also link Soul pods to the Soul 2, sometimes with an extra 0.4 ohm value. On that newer device, only buy a refill whose listing names the Soul 2 explicitly.

When to replace worn Geekvape pods

Because the coil is sealed in almost all of these refills, a worn coil means the end of the whole pod. A Q pod variant with a replaceable coil, listed in the brand’s catalogue, is the exception.

Retailers describe the same three signs, vapour that weakens, flavour that fades and a faint burnt taste. The last one is conclusive, and the pod needs replacing.

Lifespan depends on the e-liquid and on how you vape, as our guide on when to change your vape coil explains.

Three buying mistakes that keep coming back

The same slips come up again and again, and each can be spotted before you pay.

The first is trusting the range name. The word Wenax covers several platforms, Wenax Q on one side and Wenax M on the other, and their pods do not swap.

The second involves the 0.4 ohm pod, bought for a first generation Sonder Q or Wenax Q. Retailers list it as incompatible with those devices.

The third comes from the packs. A box of three Q pods usually holds a single value, and a rushed order can leave three unusable refills at the back of a drawer.

FAQ

A few questions come up again and again when it is time to buy refills. Here are the short answers, alongside the sections above.

Are Geekvape pods sold filled?

The Q, Wenax M1, Peak and Soul pods covered here are empty refills that you fill with the e-liquid of your choice. The brand also offers a prefilled version for some Q devices, which should not be confused with the refillable pod.

Can the same pod be refilled several times?

Yes. A pod can be refilled as many times as its built-in coil allows. It is replaced when the flavour or the vapour drops off, not when the reservoir runs dry.

Should you wait before vaping a new pod?

Yes, give it a few minutes after the first fill so the cotton can soak. Drawing on a dry wick too early can damage the coil on the very first puff, and with a sealed pod the whole refill is lost.

Does the colour of a Q pod tell you its value?

On the side fill version each value has its own colour, which helps to tell the refills apart once they are out of the box. The value printed on the packaging remains the reference to check before buying.

Will Geekvape pods fit another brand’s kit?

No. These refills are designed for the brand’s own devices, and their listings only name Geekvape models. If your exact device is missing from that list, the purchase is a gamble.

Getting Geekvape pods right in two checks

Choosing the right refill always follows the same order, the platform of the device first, then the ohm value it can drive. The Q series covers most of the brand’s compact kits, with a 0.4 ohm pod kept for the most powerful models, while Wenax M1, Peak and Soul serve only their own range.

Add the capacity printed on the box and the risk of a wrong order becomes small. The same logic runs through every brand, as our guide to Vaporesso pods shows, and reading a listing properly remains the best habit before ordering your next set of Geekvape pods.
